Computational Mechanics Engineer


This engineer must be proficient in applying scientific theories and engineering methods to develop new pump design as well as use physical and computational simulation, analysis, and evaluation for development. Immediate interests will be in the area of non-linear FEA analysis and fatigue modeling.


Job Function/Responsibilities:

•Be the subject matter expert in the area of mechanics and its application to determining structural integrity and durability of assigned product.

•Perform high-level structural analysis to support technology development and product validation of Halliburton positive displacement pumping equipment.

•Employ Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and related simulation capabilities in areas of structural mechanics, fatigue design, and material modeling.

•Develop new concepts towards the above goals and validate those with laboratory scale prototype and or field testing.


Desired Requirements:

•Strong background in structural mechanics.

•Proficient with FEA software (ANSYS or equivalent) for structural analysis, including fatigue and fracture mechanics.

•Excellent knowledge in structural failure criteria.

•Well-versed in numerical algorithm development.

•Familiar with material and component testing.

•Hands-on experience in lab testing environment and proficiency in DAQ/sensor/instrumentation techniques.

•Familiar with machine design elements, bearings, gears, semi journal bearings, fasteners, welding and lubrication.



•Minimum 5-10 years direct working experience in development and validation of analysis methods to predict structural response of components and sub-systems.

•Extensive experience with non-linear FEA analysis and development of fatigue analysis methods.

•Experience with analysis and design of positive displacement pumps.

•Experience with machine design elements.

•Experience with elastomers is a plus.
