The successful applicant will join the Exploration Insights Technical Support Division, responsible for delivery of our spatial suite of products to a range of oil and gas clients. The applicant will need to ensure geoscience content is delivered to clients on time and to a consistent high standard. The candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be a strong team player. Considerable time spent working with geoscience teams and contractors should be expected and mentoring will make up a key component of the role.


Key skill sets required include:

  • Spatial and relational ETL skills within SQL Server, Postgres and PostGIS
  • Expert level knowledge of Safe Software FME Desktop and Cloud
  • Familiarity with GDAL
  • Working knowledge of GeoServer


The following additional skills would be beneficial:

  • A demonstrable interest in Geoscience
  • Developing on OpenLayers 3
  • Familiarity with the ESRI Software suite, ArcMap and GeoCat Bridge
  • Working knowledge of Java (JEE and JSE)
  • Good understanding OGC specifications and concepts (WMS, WFS, WCS, WPS)


Responsibilities will include:

  • ETL of Spatial Vector and Raster datasets for web publication
  • Automation of spatial dataset loading and cleaning
  • Ensuring content remains at a consistently high quality
  • Working on innovative new technical delivery solutions
  • Work with internal teams to improve content generation workflows
  • Actively investigating new technologies and testing new technical solutions
