Role synopsis

  • Build and lead a specific country and/or business focused team and provide accounting support to the relevant business and Finance CFO team.
  • Accountable for the production of monthly, quarterly and annual financial actuals to comply with local country fiscal regulations and Finance Standards and Practices, ensuring a robust control environment exists.
  • Manage the interface with related roles performed in the Outsourced Service Provider and external audit.
  • Accountable for building capability and supporting change within the Group Reporting team in the drive for exceptional customer service, operational excellence & compliance.

Key accountabilities

  • Ensure timely and accurate hydrocarbon accounting processes
  • Manage and coordinate a team of 10+ employees
  • Understand the business and the work of the team
  • This person will give maximal support to the ODM and senior BP management
  • Responsible for performance review and management
  • To support and prepare documents for period close, take part in close telcos
  • Support of timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes in accordance with the Group Reporting Manual and any other relevant standards and provide support for other Group reporting requirements such as Balance Sheet Integrity, Intercompany reconciliations and Group Charges.
  • This person will work on complex or difficult accounting areas requiring extensive experience in order to ensure the correct reporting and accounting treatment.
  • This person will work closely with Rhine and HVC teams supported to ensure effective delivery, to resolve issues and put in place process improvements.
  • Provide effective support to system transformations in all phases of the project

Essential Education

  • College/university degree, recognized accounting qualification
  • Basic Accounting knowledge
  • English and German Language knowledge

Essential experience and job requirements

  • Profession experience (at least 4-5 years) in related financial area
  • Experience in leading people and managing senior stakeholders
  • College/university degree, recognized accounting qualification
  • Able to manage multiple/conflicting priorities with a strong track record of delivery against tight deadlines
  • Basic Accounting knowledge
  • English and German Language knowledge
  • Good level of analytical skills, numeracy and financial awareness
  • Customer- and service-oriented thinking
  • Readiness for action and ability to work under pressure
  • Good communication and cooperation skills

About BP

BP is establishing a new Business Service Centre (“BSC”) location in Szeged which provides Finance, Customer Service and Operational Procurement services to all Downstream businesses in Europe. The BSC provides the opportunity to combine activities dispersed across different locations, and support the standardization and simplification of processes in one location. The new BSC site is starting operations in 2017, along with the Budapest site which, opened in 2009 and has 1200 employees.
