Role synopsis

Reporting to the Performance & Management Team Leader as part of the Khazzan operations team.

The purpose of the role is to assist the Operations Team to deliver accurate, concise and systematic cost information for Global Operations Organisation(GOO) in support of delivering the mission of safe, compliant, and reliable operations.

The Cost Analyst plays a key role in supporting all GOO cost processes and helping the Operations team to improve performance management of gross costs for operate phase.

The Khazzan Cost Analyst role presents a rare opportunity to be part of establishing a new operating centre which will aspire to the highest operating standards, comparable with the best of BP facilities worldwide

Key accountabilities

Cost Estimating/Planning

  • Assist the Line Managers in developing cost estimates for financial memorandum and budget forecasting purposes.
  • Provide gross Operation sub functions cost information for the development of Business Plan Elements (BPEs).
  • Provide analytics to benchmark cost and time estimates against internal and external data.
  • Support Line Managers in monitoring and maintaining cost model with internal and external data.
  • Ensure Operations budget is aligned with 8Q Area Integrated Activities scope.
Cost Tracking/Monitoring/Reporting
  • Maintain cash cost tracking system.
  • Conduct detailed operating cash cost, tracking, analysis and routine reviews with teams
  • Provide monthly cost report.
  • Provide analytics and insight to assure on track performance, or help inform cost management decisions
  • Collaborate with Finance in preparation and presentation of Quarterly Plan Freeze reporting and variance analysis

Value of Work Done/Work in Place Estimates
  • Consolidate gross value of work done (VoWD) and submit to Finance to for accruals.
  • Support GOO cost reconciliation, variance analysis, and Operations cost review for partners and JV audits.
  • Provide support for cost recovery processes run by Finance.

Essential Education

Bachelor’s degree in business (Economics, Accounting & Finance) or Engineering.

Essential experience and job requirements

  • This role only open for Omani Nationals
  • At least 7 years’ experience in an oil and gas Upstream environment and a good understanding of Upstream Operations processes
  • Experience in Cost estimating or project controls gained on a variety of different projects.
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP PM).
  • Working knowledge of Computerized Maintenance Management System (SAP PM).
  • Proficiency of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Management and Interpersonal
  • Self-starter and an ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure created by conflicting priorities from various stakeholders
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, applicable at all levels in the organization, Discipline Engineers, supply chain and Contractors.
  • Experience of working in Multi-Cultural teams.
Basic Ability to Work in Region
  • Must be able to speak, read and write English fluently in order to perform essential job functions
