Job Details

The Engineering, Projects, Inspection and Construction (EPIC) Manager is accountable for maintenance, small and major capital projects (project portfolio $150 – 200 million), discipline  engineering, inspection, engineering authorities, Right of Way, Drawing & Records Management, facility engineers and a material portion of all compliance requirements.

The EPIC Manager will also play a significant role in owning the overall engineering capability for US Pipelines & Logistics (USPL) including the central team (solid line reporting) and all of the regional performance units’ engineering teams (dotted line reporting).


  • As member of USPL LT, provide leadership to various groups and functions that support our business strategy:
    • Integrity Management Committee (IMC) - driving clarity, direction and verification of USPL’s integrity management and process safety programs
    • FVC & USPL Portfolio Management Committee (PMC) – creating transparency and alignment on business plan, projects performance and delivery
    • Safety and Operations Governance Board – Driving clear direction and decisions for the business related to policies & procedures, integrity management, resourcing, capabilities, competencies, regulatory compliance, HSSE management, and risk management
  • Accountable for delivering safe compliant and reliable operations while driving continued simplifications in our process, capabilities for the business, and efficiencies within our operations; assess key risks and focus on mitigating plans and controls
  • Leadership accountabilities across the EPIC organization (Engineering, Projects, Inspections and Constructions) and managing team and individual performance through setting and communicating clear expectations
    • Engineering – Mechanical, Electrical Civil, Risk Management, Instrumentation, Automation
    • Projects – Onshore/Offshore
    • Inspections – Facility & Pipeline inspections , Right of Way, Corrosion
    • Construction – Construction Management, Inspections, and Construction Maintenance team
  • Accountable for financial performance against the approved plan across each of the purpose of investment categories - Regulatory compliance, Integrity management, Commercial Maintain and Growth.  Develop and maintain a rolling 5 yr investment plan for capital and expense projects
  • Holds accountability with other USPL LT members on USPL’s HSSE performance
  • Has accountability over the major capital project management team, specialty engineering disciplines (I & E, materials, mechanical, pipelines, hydraulic, power optimization, etc.), technical authorities, control center authority, right of way team, drawings & records team and programs & operations team.
  • Through STPs, ETPs and technical authorities, sets inspection standards and provides expertise for corrosion, tanks, static equipment and pipelines.  Ensure critical engineering and technical support is provided to USPL Performance Units and USPL Major Projects.
  • Position manages vendor relationships with key vendors/suppliers for major projects, sets standards, process and assurance for smaller projects, and has HSSE project expertise, including standard and policy setting for projects and contractors.
  • Holds key relationships with NA Fuels with regard to growth projects. Building enduring capabilities through Continuous development and communications on employees succession planning and development of staff


 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline required
  • •Capital projects and engineering experience - required
  • 10 years in leading people in the gas & oil industry
  • Experience in change management efforts
  • Must have proven leadership and people management skills – able to inspire,  coach, develop and lead teams
  • Strong grasp of  pipeline industry practices
