Under broad direction, leads a group of 5-6 Procurement professionals and plans sourcing and supplier management to support field operation’s strategic plans.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Plans sourcing to support operations strategic plans at the plant level
  • Complies with and executes Category Management strategy in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Directs the creation of request for quotations (RFQ) and competitive biddings from various suppliers to obtain best quality, delivery and price for goods and services
  • Responsible for approving the selection and qualification of suppliers, negotiating with suppliers, and implementing agreements for local procurement of goods and services not covered under Category Management
  • Develops strategies to improve supplier performance for spend not under regional or global Category Management
  • Works with Business Development and Technology to set specifications for products and services to attain market leverage without compromising specified requirements
  • Ensures the timely creation of purchase orders in response to material requirements established by field operations.
  • Ensures successful execution of negotiated contracts with suppliers
  • Ensures single and sole source and/or competitive justification has been executed by the buyer or specifying customer
  • Expedites, de-expedites and issues change purchase orders to meet manufacturing, field plant or project demands
  • Resolves systemic or process oriented Goods and Invoice Receipt Issues, including Electronic Data Interchange (EDI)
  • Facilitates discussions between internal customers and suppliers
  • Responsible for reporting and monitoring of spend and control measures. 
  • Provides local leadership and representation
  • Provides training and guidance for team



  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline (or equivalent industry experience in lieu of education)
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in procurement which includes experience in purchasing and demonstrated leadership skills
  • Team building, mentoring, coaching experience
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and analytical skill important.
  • Familiarity to Microsoft applications


Desired Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Canadian tax laws
  • Undergraduate degree in a related discipline
  • Possession of advanced procurement certificate
  • Industry experience
  • SAP experience
